A Telephone 03:20
I don't want to lose that voice. Mother says, when father comes home, he's gonna buy us a telephone. A flock of geese, arguing, like shithorns in the sky. They disappear, but I can hear them now. If a voice is just a thing, take a little paper, take a little string and send a little home to me, cause I don't want to lose that voice. I worry I'll forget the way you called my name, like the arcs of winter ice on a warming window pane, making their retreat from the morning's feeble heat, and I don't want to lose that voice. Mother says, when father comes home...

about

Musician, Steve Truman was working for the Field Studies Commission at Malham Tarn in the Yorkshire Dales, England, living in a small house called Keepers Cottage. He invited Brian Acton to visit with his family.
Instead, Brian invited two other musicians (Dave Insua-Cao, and Kath Ord) to join them for a weekend of eating, drinking, walking and making music.
They set up microphones in the living room and played music, recording at a leisurely pace over 4 days. They played a mix of new material which hadn't been recorded and material inspired by the place and the people in the cottage. These 8 tracks were recorded that weekend and mixed over the following few weeks. One cover version made it onto this album.
Thanks to Steve for providing such a wonderful setting for the weekend.
Special mention goes out to Jamie Stockbridge, who supposed to be there that weekend, but who broke his wrist snowboarding. Perhaps we will do it again next year, and Jamie can avoid extreme sports, or at least be more competent at them.
